Robbie Glen and Jesse Noronha continued Warilla's dominance of Illawarra championships with Sunday's victory in the Champion of Club Champion Pairs.
Glen was called up as substitute for Aaron Teys from the early rounds and partnered Noronha to beat Dapto's Peter Kendall and Brian Suckley 19-17 in the final at Woonona Bowling Club.
The tournament was put back a week with the quarter-finals and semi-finals washed out the previous Sunday.
The Warilla team were outstanding in beating Dapto Citizens' Pairs champions Chris Green and Steve Green 24-13 in their quarter-final last Saturday before reaching the final with a hard-fought 19-15 win over Helensburgh father-and-son Glen and John Hillen.
The Hillens upset Wes Falconer and Brian Harriott (Towradgi Park) 18-15 in the quarter-finals.
Kendall and Suckley also had a terrific tournament and played arguably their best bowls in the semi-final with a 23-14 win over Wiseman Park champions Jason Cheadle and his Zone 16 representative Robbie Warren.
Eighteen club Major Pairs champions nominated for the Illawarra finals, with Warilla's triumph making it a Zone 16-record sixth championship in the 2014 season.
The Gorillas are celebrating their 50th year of bowls and began the season with victory in the Illawarra Fours in February.
Warilla will also be off to the State Finals as winners of the Zone 16 Open Pairs, plus Senior Singles, President Reserve Singles and Triples.
World Cup champion Jeremy Henry faces a busy state championships in October playing in the Fours, Pairs and Triples.
Meanwhile, Glen and Noronha join Illawarra Champion of Club Champion Singles winner Falconer in the State Finals at Nowra BC in November.
