I WRITE regarding the disgraceful behaviour of some councillors at a recent meeting, but in particular Helen Stewart who, on Tuesday, August 12, made reference to the current mayor, Marianne Saliba, being Davey Hamilton and claiming that council was being gagged.

As David Hamilton's younger brother and a long-term resident of Shellharbour City, I found her comments to be grossly offensive considering my brother lost his battle with leukaemia only 18 months ago.
I believe Cr Stewart had no right to make derogatory remarks regarding David, as he is unfortunately unable to defend himself.
Cr Stewart should apologise immediately for her outburst and refrain from attacking people who are unable to respond.
It is gutless and totally unacceptable that an elected councillor would behave in this manner.
