Police claim a drunk Joseph Lewis Tighe repeatedly punched his sister in the head while she was driving him to a friend's house on Monday afternoon, causing her to flee the vehicle and seek help from a passing motorist.
He then headed to his brother's house and attacked him, leaving him with swelling to the face.
Police facts tendered to Port Kembla Local Court on Tuesday claim both assaults stemmed from Tighe's belief that his sister and her boyfriend had told police about his alleged involvement in a recent armed robbery.
Tighe was on bail over the robbery charge at the time he committed the alleged assaults, the court heard.
The police documents said the woman had been driving home from a dental appointment when Tighe ran out in front of her car near her house.
He demanded to be taken to a friend's place. However, when they got there, he only got out of the car momentarily, before forcing his way back in.
It is alleged the assault happened during the return journey.
The woman managed to stop the car and break free from Tighe's grip, police claim.
She ran from the car screaming for help and was assisted by a passer-by, who let her into their car and drove away from the scene so the woman could call police.
Police allege a short time later, Tighe forced his way into his brother's house at Albion Park Rail and repeatedly punched him while he was sitting on the lounge.
Tighe was arrested later that night.
In court on Tuesday, Tighe faced multiple assault charges as well as an aggravated break and enter charge.
Magistrate Mark Richardson refused bail and the case was adjourned to October 22.
