Furious that Wollongong's application for funding to install utilities and help develop the Mt Keira Summit Park did not make the shortlist for funding, Mr Park has written to Minister for the Illawarra John Ajaka asking for the meeting.
"I am ... concerned that Wollongong City Council despite every effort to submit quality applications for important projects seem to be getting excluded in the early stages of the application process and this is something that I am very keen to get feedback on," Mr Park wrote.
He told the minister he expected stronger advocacy and "our fair share of funding given the economic contribution our community makes through mining".
Mr Ajaka said this week he would meet with the council to address the funding criteria.
"I [am] perplexed as to why Wollongong council submitted a similar application twice given that it was rejected in the previous round," he said.
"We're going to meet with council to advise on selection criteria and identify the reasons the project missed out twice."
