Rising stars Corey Wedlock and Jono Davis put former South Pacific pairs champions Shane Garvey and clubmate Robin Smith to the sword before clinching a spot in Friday's knockout round.
The youngsters, whose combined age is just 31, beat the 2013 champions 22-8 in their opening sectional match at Albion Park and won all three games in their first pairs partnership at a South Pacific carnival.
Garvey shares the record of nine carnival wins with John Green yet he, and his experienced Wiseman Park clubmate, Smith were out-gunned by the 13-year-old Davis and 18-year-old Wedlock.
"We played really well," Davis said. "Shane and Robin are top players and we didn't know what to expect but we were a good combination."
Remarkably, just last month Dubbo Railway-based Davis reached the semi-finals of the 2014 NSW Champion of Club Champions Singles at Nowra BC, while Urunga's Wedlock won the NSW under-25 singles.
At just 13, Davis is already entering his third South Pacific carnival, but today will have to take a back seat to his father Steve, who is still alive in the fours, while young Jono and Wedlock and their team are out in the fours.
Meanwhile, continuing a great carnival for young bowlers, Wiseman Park teenager Dylan Skinner and partner James Thelander won section 25 at Dapto Citizens which included four-time carnival Pairs champion John Green and partner Craig Donaldson, a late replacement for Welsh international David Axom.
Skinner was only able to enter the pairs after expecting to miss the carnival due to his duties as Wiseman Park's apprentice greenkeeper.
But though he missed out on a spot in the fours and singles, he and Thelander showed they're a threat in pairs after winning all three sectional games.
In other key results from 51 sections in pairs, Warilla's Glen Ryan and Paul Johnson won only two of their three games and had a zero differential but still won section 35.
In section 23, the composite team of Rob Patane and Tony Crompton lost their second game by eight shots but still got through with two wins +7.
