Daniel Johnson making impact for 36ers

He will take a few weeks to hit his straps but Daniel Johnson made a solid return to the NBL last weekend.

After finishing with four points in 15 minutes in Adelaide's 89-85 defeat of Wollongong on Friday, Johnson tallied eight points, four rebounds, four assists and four blocks in Sunday's thrashing of Sydney.

Reacquired by Adelaide last week after brief stints in Puerto Rico and Poland, the 26-year-old has to appear in the Sixers' final five games to be eligible for the post-season.

"I was a little rusty, just getting back into the plays and knowing the guys," Johnson said after Friday's win.

"I'm still finding my way a little bit, but I felt pretty good out there. I wasn't tired or fatigued, so that's a good sign. It's going to take a bit of time but slowly we'll get there."

Johnson was voted Adelaide's club MVP for the past three years. He believes this year's squad is more balanced and doesn't rely on two or three players.

"It's a little different," he said.

"Normally you establish roles in preseason, so I have to come in and kind of do it on the run. It's fine. I don't think it's going to be an issue. As you saw tonight it didn't affect the guys at all."

The Sixers have won five straight and moved to fourth spot.

"The feeling in the group at the end of the season, between playing finals and not, is so different," Johnson said.

"You really don't feel like you've achieved anything unless you get to the finals and really give it a crack."
