Just two rounds remain before the semi-finals, with Twenty 20 champions Corrimal, and Uni sharing second spot, only two points behind leaders Helensburgh.
Both clubs know a victory will put the pressure on Helensburgh for the minor premiership with the Burgh taking on Wollongong in this round 12 before hosting the dangerous Balgownie in the final round.
Corrimal are away to Northern Districts and University host Dapto in the final round one-dayer, giving the clash at Ziems Park extra significance.
A top two finish was vital last season with second-placed Keira winning the premiership after battling to a draw in the final against fourth-placed Uni, with the first day of the final washed out.
University, Corrimal and Helensburgh all want a top two finish as insurance if the weather is a factor in either the semi-final or final.
The Cougars and Uni both won outright last weekend. The Students crushed Wests Illawarra, while Corrimal fought back from the brink of first innings defeat against Keira to take maximum points.
Meanwhile, in Saturday’s other matches, Wests will want to put their Valentine’s Day massacre behind them at home to Northern Districts at Figtree Oval.
Port Kembla’s semi-final hopes appear over following last weekend’s loss to Norths.
But Port will still want a strong showing against fourth-placed Balgownie, who could still finish in top two with an outright win, plus final round win over Helensburgh.
Keira host Dapto, while in the other games Wollongong are at home to the Burgh.
Ladder: Helensburgh 70; University 68; Corrimal 68; Balgownie 61; Port Kembla 47; Dapto 42; Northern Districts 35; Wests 30; Wollongong 23; Keira 15.
