Jamberoo survived a late rally from reigning premiers Nowra-Bomaderry to secure their fourth straight win on Sunday at Kevin Walsh Oval.
The Jets had three chances to snatch a draw in the closing minutes but Jamberoo desperately defended their try-line and clinched a 30-24 victory.
"I'm pretty proud of the effort today," Superoos captain-coach Jono Dallas said.
"They were attacking our line with two minutes to go and blokes were putting their bodies on the line.
"That's the sort of mental toughness that you can't coach, and you need blokes to have that if you want to go somewhere in this competition."
Jamberoo built a 20-8 half-time lead before the Jets hit back with two tries to make it 20-18. The Roos re-grouped, scoring twice for a 30-18 lead.
The Jets scored under the posts with five minutes remaining but were unable to find a game-tying try.
"I thought our defence was good for most of the game, because a team like Nowra just has points everywhere," Dallas said.
"You'd rather not let in any points in any game, but when you're playing Nowra you're not always gutted because they're so dangerous.
"Sometimes it's just good tries from good footy.
"The good thing was that our boys stuck to the little things we wanted to work on and when we did complete we looked good."
Jamberoo are outright third after Kiama went down 28-10 to co-competition leaders Shellharbour on Sunday.
"Wins like today's are much more valuable in the long run," Dallas said.
"You get a team off their day and win by 50 and you think it's great, but it doesn't really teach you too much.
"Games when you have to knuckle down and stand up as a team mean the most."
Jamberoo face unbeaten Gerringong this weekend.
"They're one of the top teams so we know we have to turn up," Dallas said.
"They'll be ready to go but we'll get one or two blokes back. When you win and can add players it's always a good spot to be in."
In Sunday's other game, Warilla endeda four-game losing slump with a 70-0 drubbing of Milton-Ulladulla.
