The truck remains in the breakdown bay nearby and a salvage operation is continuing but should not impact motorists.
Traffic is still heavy northbound and motorists should allow additional travel time as conditions return to normal.
11:03AM: A queue of 5km continues to cause major traffic delays near the Picton Road on-ramp following a truck fire early on Thursday morning.
One of two lanes on the Hume Motorway near Wilton remain closed and the road is expected to be blocked for several hours.
EARLIER: Emergency services are on site near the Picton Road on ramp where a truck is on fire, causing major traffic delays on Thursday morning.
Transport Management Centre spokesperson Kriten Forbes said motorists travelling north on the Hume Motorway at Wilton were experiencing significant delays, with one of two northbound lanes closed.
Motorists using the Picton Road on ramp to the Hume Motorway are also experiencing delays.
Transport Management Centre spokesperson Kriten Forbes said motorists are slowly passing the incident and should exercise caution and allow plenty of extra time.
