The band’s Final Words album has been nominated for the Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album ARIA.
Singer and guitarist John Bowker said the nod “came out of nowhere”.
“When I received a call from our manager to let me know, I was more puzzled than excited,” Bowker said.
“We haven’t even had a song in the ARIA charts, so it took a little while to sink it, but it now it’s like ‘yeah it’s really cool’.”
The album was released in July and Bowker said it has been getting a lot of good reviews and has even featured as the album of the week on The Music website.
The foursome are up against bands In Hearts Wake, King Parrot, Northlane and Thy Art Is Murder.
“Compared to the other artists and their followings, we’re far less established,” Bowker said.
“We feel like the underdogs a little bit.”
Even though they only heard about the nomination last week, Bowker said it has already changed things for the band.
“It’s given us a good deal of exposure,” he said.
“We’ve had a lot of attention put on the band since it’s happened and the numbers on Facebook have gone up fairly significantly.”
