No doubt if the walls could talk they would also have some tales to tell about mischievous children, ink wells, teachers – and the cane.
But all of this is destined to remain as memories – with news that the original 414 Crown Street site of Wollongong West Public School, is to be sold.
The school ceased operating at the site many years ago, moving students to another site further west along Crown Street. The old site was used by the NSW Department of Education and Training as its Wollongong School Education Area Office. In 2013 the Department of Education transferred the property to Government Property.
Savills selling agent Robert Lowe said the site is zoned low density residential and would make an ideal residential development site. The property is 6,200 square metres has a height limit of nine metres.
The property will be auctioned on December 1.
