Windang whiting, Basin flathead firing

In Lake Illawarra, whiting have moved back in and best targeted with local fresh or live bait and quality fish have been landed near the boat ramp. 

Decent-sized prawns were caught earlier in the week, with results achieved by simply walking with a light and hand scooping. Just ask Craig Collins who scored about 3kg in one session.

With the amount of bait around, the jewfish have schooled up again around the bridge with a couple caught on Sunday while fishing the slack tide times.

Offshore, snapper have been sitting deeper with Wollongong Reef holding some big reds up to 6kg. 

Baits including fresh squid or striped tuna will produce, but for the more adventurous try the new era micro jigs from Berkley or Yakamito.

Chris Aird and crew have caught game fishing fever, heading out Monday to find a couple of marlin.

The BRE went to Ziivco Trajkovski with a catch of flathead and Billy White won most points with a mixed bag fishing salt and fresh water including 2 bass 40cm-46cm both released.
