Hawks need a harder edge: Lisch

After an injury-hampered start to the season, the 29-year-old former MVP lit up the WEC and social media with his silky smooth moves off the dribble and several highlight reel buckets.

It was a performance that showed he has fully shrugged off the knee injury that kept him out of three of the Hawks first four games but it proved little solace post-match.

‘‘I haven’t thought about that to tell you the truth,” Lisch said.

‘‘Any time you lose you don’t care about what you do individually.

‘‘The hurt of that just takes over but physically I am feeling a lot better.”

Lisch echoed coach Rob Beveridge’s call that the Hawks need to show a harder edge defensively and on the boards after being run down on their home floor.

‘‘We need to start getting tougher,” he said.

‘‘We’ve talked about mentally, in those situations, wanting the ball more.

“[Defence] is all you need to look at.

‘‘At the end you can look at the offence all you want but if you’re not getting stops, I don’t care how many points you score.

‘‘We got up more shots, we did a lot of things well but when it comes down to it those are things that win games.

‘‘I think a lot of it comes down to that stuff. The X’s and O’s...there’s no problem.”
