Dane Taylor from Austinmer band Shining Bird wants the Illawarra to get behind them in light of their latest single “Rivermouth” being nominated for Song of the Year at the annual FBi Radio SMAC Awards.

Taylor said it was a real thrill to be part of something so highly respected in the music industry.
Fans can vote for them via the independent radio station’s website until December 18, with winners announced January 12.
If they do win, Taylor has promised to put on a huge free show in Wollongong for the fans.
If you haven’t seen what the fuss is about, catch the experimental pop group at Bulli’s Heritage Hoel with Tiny Ruins and Flowertruck this Thursday. While they’ll also headline the inaugural family festival Fairgrounds in Berry on December 5.
It comes as the group have just brought on a new edition from Nashville, saxophonist Michael Slater.
“It just takes us to the next level of dreaminess,” said Taylor.
