FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Recent articles in the Illawarra Mercury have highlighted the cooling off facilities in two northern suburbs, Austinmer and Towradgi, where there are free rock pools located close to free beaches.

The southern suburbs of Dapto and Horsley enjoy no such luxury as the entry fees for Dapto pool are so high as to restrict entry to only the most affluent.
Perhaps the council might take advice from a local football organisation whose heat policy cancels games once a certain high temperature is reached.
Fees could be waived when the temperature reaches 35 degrees.
On the latest very hot days Dapto pool has had very few customers and it's not as if the children have all gone to a nearby beach.

SHOPPING AROUND
So the people, or should I say, shoppers, have finally woken up to themselves.
Going by Woolworths, with their shares going down as with there profits, it’s a pity their prices on grocery items didn't go down as well. That's before now.
But not yet they haven't. Still the same over-priced groceries in the stores.
Well, you can only rip of people for a short time, then they waken up.
Wonder how long they will be down …. if they start to go down that is?

HUNK OF BURNING LOVE NEEDED
It happens every summer, devastating, property and life taking bush fires.
Would one not think that Federal and state governments purchase a dozen of those Elvis-type firefighting planes for each state and have them on standby for the summer months.
Even the insurance companies could put their hands in their pockets to help pay.

REALISATION NEEDED
The discussion that has followed the atrocity in Paris tells us all that freedom isn’t free.
While many are prepared to suggest that boots are needed on the ground, the proponents of this course do not seem to be rushing to volunteer to be part of their suggested solution.
Peace carries a heavy price tag that only a few are prepared to negotiate.
Most seem prepared to live out their preconceptions and blame someone for the problem.
Until we realise that we are all part of the solution then the status quo will continue.

HOOK, LINE AND SINKER
We’ve spent millions stopping poor Indonesian fishing in the north of Australia while the re-named Geelong Star sneaks into our southern waters to rape &and pillage our native fish stocks,
What sort of politicians do we have in Government?
Non-performing ones.
Bloody disgrace.

RULES USELESS IF NO CHECKS
Is the Council really going to believe Wollongong Coal?
Surely there should be a STOP WORK notice placed on the project until all conditions have been met.
I also notice there is no mention of Wollongong Coal stockpiling 200,000 tonnes of oversize coal on the emplacement area. This is a huge breach of the conditions.
You can bet the Council and Wollongong Coal will continue to keep information about this from the public.
