MELBOURNE City striker Corey Gameiro’s horrendous run with injury has continued, ruled out for the rest of the A-League season after suffering an ACL tear.

Gameiro took to social media on Saturday afternoon, confirming his latest setback after being replaced in the second half of City’s thumping 5-1 win over Perth.
“Devastated and torn to bits to announce that my ACL has gone again and my season is over,” he wrote.
“I have had a horrible last year and worked so hard to get back out on the pick, only to have it taken away from me so quickly.”
It was only 12 months ago, the Port Kembla and Wollongong Wolves product suffered a knee injury while on international duty for the Australian under 23 team.
Playing for Sydney FC at the time, Gameiro was forced to undergo a reconstruction and later signed a deal with Melbourne City in an attempt to rebuild his career.
Gameiro has spent time in England with former Premier League club Fulham as well as Dutch lower league team FC Eindhoven and in the A-League with Wellington Phoenix.
"We are of course very disappointed to learn of the extent of Corey’s injury, particularly after his hard work and rehabilitation,” Melbourne City coach John van’t Schip said.
"Corey is no doubt devastated with the news and our thoughts are with him at this difficult period.”
