Rolls passed away at the age of 89 earlier this month, after a battle with cancer and was fondly remembered at a funeral service on Saturday.
A life member of Shellharbour Workers Cricket Club, Rolls was also a founding and life member of the Shellharbour Fishing Club.
An engineer on the Port Kembla wharves, Rolls was instrumental in establishing Shellharbour Fishing Club and was harbourmaster and president for a many years.
He was among those who worked on constructing wharf and slipway facilities at Shellharbour, as well as being consistently available to help boaters and fishers in trouble at all hours of the day and night.
Rolls also has a Shellharbour Cricket Club trophy named his honour, after being awarded life membership in 1973.
Rolls is survived by seven children and seven grandchildren, who have shared among them his love of the sea and time at the crease.
