Kiama still finding their feet

Frustrated at a slow start in their draw against Jamberoo, Muttdon was far more impressed with the 28-12 victory over the Dogs. But an Anzac weekend off has left them itching to take on the physical Warilla pack on Sunday.

“It was hard having the week off, I would rather have played,” Muttdon said. 

"I thought we were much better against Milton than against Jamberoo, but we’re slowly building into the season. Warilla are always tough, they’re big and physical, we’ve done a bit of work on our defence this week.”

Kiama almost denied Gerringong’s premiership win last year, after being 40 minutes from a grand final. 

Having beaten the Lions 8-6 earlier in the finals series, they led 14-6 in the preliminary final, before Gerringong came charging back. 

“We think we can be right there again,” Muttdon said.

“We had two teams in the grand final and we were pretty close in first grade, there’s plenty of depth at the club.”

Kiama have already been tested after five-eighth was sidelined for six weeks with a shoulder injury. Daniel Martin has taken over the role, alongside Kieran Poole.
