Co-founded by director/screenwriter Angela Blake of Thirroul, it provides a platform for filmmakers, from beginners to professionals, to bring their ideas to life in front of a global audience - without the need for a big budget.
“[Ali Crew and I] want it to be the smartphone equivalent of Tropfest, as it’s such a wonderful Aussie festival which started small then took over the world,” said Ms Blake.
“We are an international festival but we are really Aussie focused, Ali and I are both really passionate about taking Australian films to the world.”
Films must be no longer than six and a half minutes, including credits, and must be shot entirely on a smartphone or tablet though can be edited elsewhere.
Submissions can be made until August 1st. The top ten, plus one Kids Flick winner, will be selected and shown at a gala awards screening at Sydney’s Palace Chauvel Cinema on August 26th where winners will also be announced.
