The annual dooknock is on May 29 and Farr-Jones recalled how the approach taken during a golden time of his rugby career closely aligned with how the Salvos were able to do so much. In the last 25 tests he played the Wallabies won 22 including the World Cup.
“We became a hugely consistent team. Why do I raise that. Because process is everything about what the Salvos do..to meet their budgets and be able to do what they achieve. They are constantly touching people and constantly reaching out to the needy.”
Business committee chair Michael Bassingthwaighte said 10,000 people were assisted each year in the region. “They receive help with food, furniture, clothing, accommodation and bills. Women and children affected by domestic violence are given safe housing and support. And children who go without are given breakfast at school”.
