With further downgrades expected to the Soft 5 track, McLeod is hoping to use the conditions to his advantage when betting and preparing Saturday’s set for his subscribers.

 “There’s going to plenty of rain tonight and throughout the day tomorrow so it’s going to be a bit of a slog fest,” McLeod said on Friday.

“Very fit horses, good trainers and good jockeys – that’s what you have to be looking for.

“I won’t be frightened to bet there. You just have to find the right horses on these types of tracks and look for wet trackers.

“It becomes like a maiden where you can rule out three quarters of the field and you can play around with four or five horses. That’s what I’m going to be doing.”

With the event the seventh race scheduled on the day, punters will almost certainly be looking for the fittest fillies on a potentially bottomless track.

McLeod revealed that was the sole concern he has over the Chris Waller-trained Sebring Sally, which is currently a $19 chance for the race.

“She’s a nice horse and put in a big run (in The Roses) but doesn’t fall into the category of a very fit horse,” McLeod said.

“That’s the only proviso on this horse. I thought she went really well the other day.

“She’s had an 1800m and 2000m run but I’d prefer her to have had another 2200m run leading into this race.”
