Back to the Valley which has been a fruitful track for me over the journey and I'm hoping the surface is ready for metro racing. Track should play fairly with the thunderstorms in the next 36 hours no doubt playing a part in the condition of the surface. Slight preference to the leading pack for sure but swoopers will get their chance provided they don't get pushed too wide to do so.
Overs:
Race 8 – CHANCE TO DANCE @ $7.00
Here is a horse that went straight into the blackbook first-up with an enormous run from the back in an on-paced dominated race. He ran a super race behind Preferment second-up last preparation and I like that he is drawn inside as I think that'll ensure they don't get too far back. Probably will do his best over further but I think it's a positive he's been kept slightly fresh for this and I've marked him $5.
Race 9 – DUKE OF BRUNSWICK @ $4.00
I've bet around him largely this time in but the right places were on him last start and I'm ready to join in this time. He maps perfectly, D Dunn rides Moonee Valley particularly the race shape he will get here very well and I think he'll be too good for them. There are holes in the form of most of the contenders. Magnus Reign at 20-1 is another horse in this race I'll be keeping safe.
Unders:
Race 2 – KING WAY @ $4.20
Open race this one and I don't like the position this bloke looks likely to get into during the run. He's drawn inside and he will be minimum three pairs back the fence. He's becoming a non-winner and I've marked him $8 and expect he ends up closer to that quote come jump time.
IPSWICH
It's that time of year again and we are off to Ipswich for Cup day. A tricky card but let's find some winners.
Track Condition: Good 4
Rail Position: Rail True Entire Course
Weather: Partly Cloudy
Unders:
Race 3 No.4 SIR DONALD @ $1.90
Strong winner at race debut but much tougher here and I'll be betting around the
1 & 2 at the better value.
Race 6 No.2 MAURUS @ $2.50
I think come race day if you like MAURUS you'll get a better price on the day. Also has a tricky gate to contend with and a big weight.
Overs:
Race 6 no.4 IGGY POP @ $9.50
Prospects look much brighter from the good gate and looks to be a good eachway bet. If you can forgive last start and go on the second placing in Sydney, the run prior, then he's right in this.
Race 8 no.2 ECHO GAL @ $5.50
Gay will have her cherry ripe for this race and again from the good draw this daughter of STRATUM will make her own luck.
ROSEHILL GARDENS
Rail Position: +4m rail
Track Condition: Soft 6
Track Type: Turf
Weather: Fine
Overs:
Race 6 – EMBLEY @ $10
Like the way this gelding has returned this time in, with two cracking trials and was a touch unlucky first-up when blocked for a run at a vital stage. Paraded a touch big that day and will have taken plenty of improvement from the run and will appreciate the step up in trip.
Race 9 – TERMELE @ 26
Talented sprinting filly that returned with a solid fresh run at Wagga lugging the top weight and was wide without cover early and as she loomed to win at the top of the straight just gassed a touch late. Feel she will be better suited down in the weights and up to the 1100m should see her settle in a forward position without doing a lot of work from the inside draw.
Unders:
Race 9 – PAINTE @ $4.50
Absolutely flying this time in, but don’t feel he will be suited back in trip here and will have to give weight on what will be a testing to track to a couple of smart sprinters. He will also have to settle further back from the gate and not sure that will be the place to be.
