The Gorillas have made a spectacular late-season march towards September action with wins over Jamberoo and Kiama along the way.
However, they remain fourth on the ladder, still two points behind the Superoos and Shellharbour. The finals picture will become clearer as Kiama take on Shellharbour.
Meanwhile, Nowra-Bomaderry take on Jamberoo on Saturday in a celebration of the pre-merger Warriors and Swamprats 1996 premiership teams.
The joint-venture Jets will host a golden oldies game to celebrate Nowra winning the Group Seven crown 20 years ago and Bomaderry’s reserve grade title.
“The people during that time, jumped at the chance to be involved in the match,” 1996 Warriors’ skipper and event coordinator Adrian Weller said.
“There was a really good feeling at the club in the premiership year and that’s what made it so easy to get everyone back for the 20-year anniversary.
“There’s eight blokes from outside the area, such as Western Australia and Queensland, who are coming and some of those blokes haven’t seen each other in 20 years.”
