Jarvis Earle (Cronulla) and Cedar Leigh-Jones (Avalon) both claimed their second Surfer Groms Comp for the season, taking out the under-14 boys’ and girls’.

Winter Vincent (Manly) made his first appearance in the Surfer Groms Comp in Kiama and ensured it counted, claiming the under-12 boys’ division.

Holly Wishart (Werri), Koby Jackson (Lake Tabourie) and Shyla Short (Austinmer) all claimed titles for the Illawarra/South Coast region, winning the under-12 girls’ and under-10 boys’ and girls’ respectively.

All three surfers showed healthy repertoires across their Wahu campaigns to take the three titles.

Kobe Kremer (Terrigal) continued his charge through the Surfer Groms Comp, taking out the under-8 Mixed division.

Kremer posted a respectable 7.93 heat total to claim the win ahead of Sunny Vincent (Manly), Jacob Hall (Avoca) and Taj Air (Thirroul) who claimed second, third and fourth respectively.

Dayan Conti (Minnamurra) placed third in the under-10 boys’ division. 

The main base for event four of the Surfer Groms Comp series was Jones Beach, with back-up locations of Bombo, Surf Beach and Werri.

Regarded as one of the major stepping stones in the development of young Australian surfers, the nine-event Surfer Groms Comps caters for surfers from under-8 to under-14 and will be held in NSW, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia over summer.

The respective winners of the under-14 boys’ and girls’ divisions from each event will receive an invite to attend an all-expenses paid, three-day Surf Camp at the Hurley Surfing Australia High-Performance Centre.

The Wahu Surfer Groms Comps have helped to launch the careers of many of Australia's most promising junior surfers with more than 800 children set to take part in the 2016/17 event series.

Previous champions include Matt Banting, Jacob Willcox, Luke Hynd, Eli Steele, Kai Hing, Chris Zaffis and Quinn Bruce.
