Paul Hansen and Fred Tagg fished off Port Kembla for a feed of flathead with the average size around a kilo and they also had flounder and a few reddies.
Geoff Dryland and Phil Cartwright headed up off Austinmer to score a nice bag of flatties to 900 grams and Rod Kent and Paul "chucka" Blanch went off Sea Cliff Bridge where Paul supplied the burley and Rod caught nothing but the barrel draw at the weigh-in.
Paul caught a pearl perch – quite an uncommon species this far south and a nice reddie of near 1.2 kilo and also took home mystery fish award.
Team Bonner and son kept very ‘mum’ about their hot spot but young Mitchell scored junior award with two drummer to 4.5kg, a few tarwine and trevally and Grant won highest points with his 1.3kg groper, three snapper to a kilo with a few trevally and flathead for dinner.
Members are advised the next weigh-in is Sunday, June 25.
Illawarra Fly Fishers are hosting world renowned and respected author, DVD producer and gun fly fisher, Peter Morse, for their July 4 meeting.
Peter is an excellent speaker and his photography is superb and his talks are always very interesting. Meeting will be held as usual at Collegians Wollongong from 7.30pm.
The fly club has acknowledged the distinguished and exceptional service of Ted Morrison by awarding him Life Membership.
