The Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra said it now shares top billing with the F6 extension.
This comes in the wake of news the NSW government will be funding the third stage of the Princes Highway upgrade, from Berry to Bomaderry.
“Obviously I want to see the bridge crossing,” Mr Ward said.
“The federal government have been making lots of claims about the Shoalhaven River bridge crossing and we’d like to see them come good with funding.”
Mr Ward said he was aware that when the Berry to Bomaderry upgrade was completed, it would mean traffic could reach the existing bridge faster and create a bottleneck.
But he said traffic is already an issue in the area.
“As a Shoalhaven resident I can tell you there’s congestion and that’s why we’ve identified the Shoalhaven River bridge in our long-term master plan as well as the highway corridor strategy,” Mr Ward said.
“Obviously we want to see the bridge upgrade delivered and that’s why we’ve allocated money towards planning.”
