The moment was captured by photographer James Day who instructed Mr Baird to close his eyes and turn around as his daughter, Laura Baird, emerged in her strapless wedding gown.
"When you turn around you'll see your daughter dressed as a bride," Mr Day wrote on social media, where he shared photos of the moment on his professional photography accounts.

In the first image, Mr Baird can be seen covering his face with his hands. In the seconds after uncovering his eyes, the photo shows the former premier overcome with joy, tearing up as he embraces his eldest daughter.
"I believe that photos can help people celebrate life," Mr Day wrote.
"I also believe that I sometimes have the opportunity to remind people of the love that exists in their life and the gravity of moments they are about to witness."
The photos were taken before Laura married Levi Baker at Manly on the weekend.
Mr Baird resigned from politics in January, citing the "strong personal cost that comes with public life" and his desire to spend more time with his family.
He joined National Australia Bank in February as chief customer officer of the lender's corporate and institutional banking unit.
His decision to step away from the public arena came just over a week after he revealed on social media that Laura was engaged.
"It feels as if only yesterday I was cradling Laura in my arms," Mr Baird wrote on Facebook in January.
"Levi will make a wonderful addition to our family and, as my son said, he finally gets a brother!"
