It seems Wollongong is reviving a decade, luring some of the period’s biggest musical acts back to the stage including the above artists and more

On October 2, the Legend Voices of Rock concert brings Bobby Kimball of Toto, Joe Lynn Turner of Deep Purple and Mark Gable of the Choirboys together at the WIN Entertainment Centre.

The producers of the show guaranteeing chart topping hits that “shaped the development of rock music”.

On November 12, rock is swapped for pop as Go West, Cutting Crew, Taylor Dayne, Wang Chung and Paul Young get feet tapping at Anita’s Theatre Thirroul for the 80s Mania concert.

A week later Pseudo Echo and 1927 mix both synth and Aussie rock on stage at the same venue.

Turning 30 in the music business could be the magic number for a revival tour, while other acts are celebrating anniversaries of albums at the pinnacle of their careers.

In December John Farnham returns for two shows at the WEC – one with Daryl Braithwaite – both scoring major success with Whispering Jack and Rise respectively.

Days later The Voice judge Boy George will change the tempo to glitz and glamour with Culture Club, also at the WEC.

While other artists rising to fame during Bob Hawke’s reign as Prime Minister include Kate Ceberano, Jon Stevens and Tina Arena – all touring this year.
