The White Eagles, who are usually a finals force in the state’s top flight, are ninth in the NSW NPL and well outside the title race for this season.
But Timpano insists they remain a huge threat to his side’s finals aspirations this Saturday night at Bonnyrigg Sports Club.
“They are actually in a bit of form at the moment and probably should have won last week,” he said.
“They caused a top three team problems and I am expecting a tough match away from home.
“Over the season, they have probably under-performed for what they would have hoped but recruited quite well in the window. It has shown in their results since then.
“They are a proud club and will fight to the end.”
Bonnyriggg beat the Wolves 3-0 when they met at WIN Stadium earlier this season.
Wollongong need to win to keep their top five hopes alive.
They currently trail fifth placed Sydney United 58 by two competition points and are level with Sydney Olympic on 31 points.
United and Olympic face off this weekend.
