NSW DPI Fisheries Officers patrolling the headland at Hastings Point on the Far North Coast of NSW apprehended a man spearfishing lobsters. The 31-year-old was in possession of an Eastern Rock Lobster and a Tropical Rock Lobster, both of which had been speared.

Fisheries officers seized the lobsters and also the man’s speargun and he has been issued fines in relation to taking lobster other than by hand and failing to pay the recreational fishing fee.
Fishers are reminded that lobsters may only be taken by hand or in a lobster trap (1 trap per person) and lobsters carrying eggs must be returned to the water immediately.

Luke from Leisure Coast Tackle at Corrimal said after the latest bump, the snapper have come on the bite in a big way and last Wednesday, local gun, Henry Weddeman weighed in his PB red for the year at a whopping 7.060kg and bumping Tim Tuta off the top spot in the In-store comp. Heaps of flatties up north and the beaches have started to fire up with plenty of bream and flatties about.
There have been a couple of good mulloway about on the soft plastics and hard bodies and the rocks saw plenty of bream and drummer by fishing the washes with weed flies and royal reds and cunje.
