It comes after Wollongong’s Crown Street Mall was transformed with colourful costumes, Latino music and dance for Noche Cultural on Friday (see photo gallery).
From Thursday to Sunday 13 films will be presented from an array of countries including Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador and Mexico.
The themes range from a musical drama set in 1920, to a heartfelt comedy about terminal illness, a family animation, romance for a single dad and a love story between two baseball fans.
Spokesperson Berth Quiros for the Spanish And Latin American Community Organisation (responsible for the free events) said they want to showcase the diversity of Spanish and Latin American cultures.
“The film festivals runs all over different areas in Australia and we’re lucky to be part of it in the Illawarra,” Ms Quiros said.
