Supervising lifeguard Andy Mole said Council lifeguards and volunteer lifeguards would be patrolling Surf Beach and Werri Beach throughout the holidays.
“I urge locals and visitors to always swim or surf at patrolled beaches and swim between the red and yellow flags,” he said.
“If there are no flags out that means you shouldn’t be swimming. Ask a lifeguard or lifesaver if you’re unsure.”
Mr Mole said Surf Beach would remain patrolled seven days a week after the school holidays, with Jones Beach and Werri Beach patrolled on weekends only.
“Surf Beach will be our main swim beach up until the start of the summer school holidays in December,” Mr Mole said.
Council has also produced an easy to follow information sheet on local beaches and patrols which is available at: www.kiama.nsw.gov.au.
