STRIKE FORCE: Exciting times ahead

We had to wait some time for him to be brought in, but that can sometimes be the case when a club are trying to make sure they get the right man for the job.

I have no doubt Josep is that man. 

I reckon he will bring a huge amount of character to Western Sydney. He has a proven track record in the competition with Adelaide United and has more recently stayed on our shores to work in the national team set-up.

During those stints he has maintained a great relationship with the players, which is such an important attitude for a coach.

He was well-liked and respected around the league too.

Already he has had several positive conversations with the Western Sydney playing group over the past couple of days. While he won’t officially take the reigns all together until next week, there is already a great vibe around the club as we look towards our new era. 

In the mean time, interim coach Hayden Foxe will remain on the sidelines officially this weekend when we travel south to AAMI Park to take on the Melbourne Victory.

Hayden has done a fantastic job since being thrust into the position on short notice.

The same can be said about everyone around the club who has helped us start the A-League season unbeaten.

When Tony Popovic left just days before the season it certainly could have derailed our start to the campaign.

Everyone knuckled down to ensure that didn’t happen.

While it undoubtedly was a bit of a rocky time, to pick up three draws and a victory through four rounds shows where we are at as a team this season.

Of course, we would rather start turning those draws into victories sooner rather than later. But the important thing is, we have created a platform to build off. 

We are still setting the bar high for this season. 

We know what we can accomplish and that confidence can only go stronger now that Josep is on-board.
