Roy has blasted four Twenty20 centuries and 148 sixes in 152 innings in the short-form.
Announced he is returning to the Sixers with middle-order compatriot Sam Billings, it was confirmed the duo will be play in the warm-up match against Hobart Hurricanes at North Dalton Park on December 12.
“We are thrilled to have Jason and Sam back with us in our quest to go one further and win (the) BBL,” Sixers coach Greg Shipperd said.
“Jason has the capacity to individually change the course of a match and we value his strike rate which was a stellar 161 last season, in combination with our two lefties at the top in Daniel Hughes and Nic Maddinson.
“As a batsman he possesses awesome natural power and has strokes in both sides of the wicket.
“More than that I was impressed by the impact he and Sam Billings had in the field they lifted a very good fielding group into a world class unit.”
In a double-header, the men’s Sixers team will play against the Hurricanes at 4.30pm, after the women’s competition match between the Sixers and Perth Scorchers.
“This is the first time that we’ve been able to play a warm-up game against another BBL team,” general manager Dominic Remond said at the launch.
“So it’s a real coup to have it down here in Wollongong.”
Billings provided a valuable steadying influence in the middle-order last season and is also a back-up wicket-keeping option. The Sixers start their campaign on Tuesday, December 19 against the Sydney Thunder at Spotless Stadium.
