Event director Rpb Battocchio launched the event on Friday with a number of key stakeholders including triathlete Grace Musgrove who will be competing and national coach Brendan Sexton who will be helping 20 hopefuls prepare for the run and swim.
“For me it’s my first race of the year - the way i kick off the season,” Miss Musgrove said. “It’s a fun day out for sure, it’s definitely a race … but it’s all a bit of fun, I don’t get nervous, we just chat on the start line to all the competitors.”
Mr Sexton said the standard of competitors was always high though it always attracted a variety of people which was “pretty cool”.
Other elite competitors will include three-time World Ironman champion Craig Alexander and Commonwealth Games 2018 triathletes Ashleigh Gentle and Charlotte McShane.
The family day out will also include the Warrigal Walk, a more relaxed and inclusive event for all ages and fitness levels.
Mr Battocchio expects more than 1800 participants and thousands more spectators at the event.
