It was up to us to lead from the front. Our senior players needed to stand up and be counted.

After our disappointing performance in the derby a week earlier, we knew we had to take some responsibility to help get us out of the rut we were in.
It was something we focused on all of last week at training. We wanted to set an example.
So when we finally made the trip to the Central Coast last Saturday night, it was fantastic to see it paid dividends in what was a crucial 2-0 victory for the club.
Personally, I couldn’t have been happier to be back in the starting side and to play an important part in the result.
I like to contribute as a leader. I always have and always will.
It’s something I pride myself on when I am out on the pitch and I will continue to do it at every opportunity I can for the remainder of the campaign.
Of course, we realise as a group it wasn’t our best performance. In truth, it was never going to be all about playing pretty football.
We had to roll up the sleeves and do the hard work to get a result.
We know there is still have a lot of improvement left in us and we have a long way to go to get where we want to be.
But it was a little step in the right direction and we can take another one this weekend against Newcastle Jets.
We will have to be better again because the Jets are certain to be full of confidence.
They’ve already achieved a lot this season and are an energetic football side who can be hard to contain.
With that said, we are definitely looking forward to the occasion and will be up for the challenge.
- VAR MESS
I’ve said before that I don’t believe the VAR needs to be a part of our game and last weekend only enhanced my opinion.
We can’t keep going down the same track we are going currently.
Some of the decisions, including a couple in our match against the Mariners, left the fans hugely disappointed and the game is taking a hit because of it.
Add in an incident like the one involving Bobo in the Sydney game and the process only becomes more confusing.
The sooner we resolve it, the better for the game.
