A male surfer has suffered back injuries at Bombo Beach on New Year’s Eve, shortly before midday.

The surfer, who was believed to be in his late teens, walked himself out of the water before NSW SES volunteers arrived on scene and worked with Kiama Municipal Council lifeguards to comfort the man until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and then assisted the man from the beach by stretcher.

The patient was experiencing severe back pain and was transported to Shellharbour Hospital in a stable condition.
It was the second day in a row, a surfer had been taken to hospital after becoming injured at Bombo Beach.
