University’s victory over Corrimal ensured they will enter the match with the upper hand. The side currently sits in fourth-place on the ladder on 56 competition points and a washout will see them through to the final.
However, with seven points on offer for a win, fifth-placed Wollongong will leapfrog Uni into the top four with a victory. The side currently sits on 51 points.
To complicate the finals equation further, Dapto’s outright victory over Wests on Saturday moved the defending champions into sixth-place and equal with Wollongong on 51 points.
As a result, the Canaries can sneak into the finals with a comprehensive victory over ninth-placed Port Kembla and a Wollongong victory over University. Dapto, however would need to overcome a net run-rate deficit to leapfrog Wollongong.
