Warilla stars Aaron Teys and Jesse Noronha were last week selected in the Jackeroos squad to tour the United Kingdom in July and will again play for NSW who want to improve on a disappointing fifth in the 2017 Alley Shield.
Twelve months ago in Adelaide, South Australia won their first Alley Shield in 29 years with another outsider Tasmania runners-up and pipped for the title due to a final round loss.
This year’s men’s event looms as another a wide-open affair for the six states plus ACT and Northern Territory.
NSW have two forced changes in their skips this year following the retirement of Wayne Turley and Aron Sherriff playing for Queensland.
Australia’s top-ranked bowler David Ferguson (Engadine) will again skip a rink, along with Aaron Wilson (Cabramatta) and St Johns Park’s Ben Twist.
Teys and Noronha played in the same rink last year but Teys will play third for Wilson this year, while Noronha will lead for Twist.
The men’s and women’s championships run from May 2-5 with Darwin proud to be the 2018 hosts.
