The eight-acre property is located at 50 Saddleback Mountain Road, Kiama.
Listed on the market earlier this week, it is for sale via Expressions of Interest.
Selling agent, Angie Ritchie, director of Illawarra and Shoalhaven-based agency Zest Real Estate said the five-bedroom home had already attracted significant interest.
The agent wasn’t able to provide a price guide at this stage.
“There’s no comparables in Kiama itself; because it’s eight acres and within two kilometres to town, it’s quite unique in that way,” she said.
However, its attributes ensure it could well rank among the top-selling properties in the region this year.
The home was built and designed by the current owners, who purchased the land in 2000.
Ms Ritchie said it offered a semi-rural feel, yet was close to the township.
“It’s about a 300-metre walk to the high school, one kilometre walk to the beach and being on Saddleback Mountain, that speaks for itself,” she said.
“The home itself is also extra large.
“All the rooms are extremely generous, it’s got extra ceiling heights throughout, everything is spacious, large and luxurious.
“It also offers beautiful views; great rural views and ocean views.
“Plus it has its own rainforest and waterfall.”
Another feature of the property is an 18-metre by 15-metre machinery shed with a six-metre height, which Ms Ritchie said could also be ideal for hobbies or as storage for a motor home, caravan or boat.
The agent said there had been plenty of early interest from potential Illawarra buyers, but also expected it to soon draw the attention of out-of-area buyers.
“Kiama still appeals to your out-of-area buyers because it’s a commutable distance to Sydney,” she said.
The Kiama municipality featured among the highest-selling properties in the Illawarra for 2017.
The Domain Group’s ‘Top Selling Illawarra Properties’ list revealed that the most expensive property of 2017 in the Illawarra region (covering the Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama local government areas) was Unit 11 at 72-74 Cliff Road, Wollongong, which sold for $3,793,000.
Number six on the list was the unit at 6/2 Barney Street, Kiama, which sold for $3,050,000.
Other sales which made the list included 3/10 Barney Street, Kiama ($2.73 million); 2/10 Barney Street, Kiama ($2.7 million); and 181 Nuninuna Drive, Jamberoo ($2.55 million).
