Ladder leaders Olympic brutally punished the Wolves at every opportunity at Belmore Sports Ground.

Radovan Pavicevic and Alex Sanchez both nabbed doubles while Thomas Whiteside scored a sensational scorpion kick goal from a corner to complete a stellar display in front of goal by Olympic.

Wolves veteran Nick Montgomery scored a laser-like long range drive in the shadows of half time, but Wollongong failed to match the host’s clinical display up front.

“It’s not good enough walking away with that sort of scoreline but they scored some special goals,” Timpano said. 

“I am sure people who watched the game will recognise that. 

“With credit to Olympic coach Abbas Saad, he even said after the game that they had come away with one even though the score suggested otherwise.

“They scored three genuine goal of the week contenders and then a few silly mistakes cost us when we were pushing for the something out of the game.

“We still haven’t be able to put it away at the other end either.”

Wolves striker Yuzo Tashiro should have put Wollongong in front inside the opening 10 minute and they were made to pay shortly after when Pavicevic completed a well-crafted Olympic attack.

Whiteside doubled the advantage with his stunning effort in the 22^nd minute.

Montgomery got Wollongong back within a goal from outside the box a minute before half time, but Olympic’s margin was restored when Sanchez rocketed his free kick past Justin Pasfield into the top corner.

He and Pavicevic both added another goal each as Wollongong chased the match to cosign the Wolves to their biggest defeat of the campaign. 

“I think we just have to dust ourselves off,” Timpano said.

“Olympic didn’t really celebrate the win and the boys noticed that. We can take a bit of confidence out of that. We still are just outside the top-five as well so we know we are right there [on the ladder] as well.”
