Luke from Leisure Coast Tackle at Corrimal said prior to the big low pressure system arriving late last week and weekend there was a good bite on yellowfin tuna straight off the front of Bellambi.

One local boat headed out midweek and landed a nice blue marlin and then went on to go 3/3 on yellow fin to round off the day and all the fish averaged around the 50kg mark. It will be interesting to see where the yellowfin are located after this bump with quite a few crews heading out late this week and hopefully weekend to have a crack at these very sought-after pelagics.
There wasn’t a great deal to report over the weekend with the abysmal weather that set in – unless you were after a feed of luderick.
As with every big southerly front, these fish seek shelter in the protected southern bays and headlands making them somewhat of an easy target if you can stand the cold and rain.
Weed has been so far plentiful but after the rocks copped a battering, it will be somewhat scarce for the next few weeks.
Bellambi and Wollongong harbours fished well over the weekend, with the big seas and saw many devout blackfish fishos scratch their itch.
The colder months are prime time for these bread and butter fish and last weekend was no exception with some great sized bronzed fish hitting the cleaning tables with some fish going well over the 1kg mark.
Snapper fishos are praying for a good weather weekend to get out and have a crack at the reds that tend to come into the shallows after any big bump.
There has already been a couple of decent fish come in off the stones as the seas start to abate so weather permitting there should be red hot bite to ensue.
Cuttlefish are being picked up off the bottom in good numbers already as they get ready to spawn, so we should see some big reds move over the shallow reefs over the next month or so, to pick up an easy feed.
