Former Wollongong Saints talent Maddy Collier is one of three Greater Western Sydney Giants stars who have been scooped up by the Essendon Bombers’ VFL women’s side.

Collier, along with team mates Tanya Hetherington and Tait Mackrill, all recently signed all with the Dons, who are playing in their inaugural season in 2018.

The inaugural GWS recruit in the 2017 national draft, who attended Nowra High School, was deployed as a utility by the Giants across her four games.

“The New South Wales league is progressing well,” Collier, 22, said

“But for this season I wanted to come down to a better league, a better club and play against better opposition.”

Meanwhile, unbeaten Wollongong Lions face Bomaderry in a top-of-the-table AFL South Coast Women’s showdown at Artie Smith Oval on Saturday.

In the AFL Sydney Women’s division one, premiers Wollongong Saints, unbeaten this year, meet third-placed Western Magic and Blacktown.
