Dozens of fans eager to watch Prince Harry tie the knot with American actress Meghan Markle snapped up the $10 seats for the four-hour viewing of the wedding live from St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Royal enthusiasts were encouraged to come dressed in fun finery, with prizes awarded for the best and most creative outfits.
It was expected to be the most-watched marriage ceremony in history, and those in attendance at Shellharbour got into the spirit.
This included Flinders resident Angela Vorg, 86.
“My daughter said, ‘get something white’, and I love white clothes and like to dress up,” she said.
“I loved it, thought it was great. I even watched it again this morning on the TV.
“It was lovely, and she’s so beautiful. It was beautiful.”
Mrs Vorg said she was a fan of the royal family.
“I like watching them,” she told the Mercury.
“I’ve been to the palace. I went to London one day when I was on holidays.”
More than three-quarters of Australians watched at least part of the nuptials of Harry's older brother William and Catherine Middleton in 2011, according to a Roy Morgan poll.
