Director Hayley Scrivenor said as there are many ways to tell a story – not just through the written word – they wanted to add a musical element at the program launch in September and the festival launch in November to liven things up.
“We want people to come our stuff, we don’t want people to think we’re a dry boring stuff festival because we’re not,” she said.
“We’re still going to be a writers festival but we want it to be a space where people people can talk about ideas and be in that creative space even if they’re not writers. We want people to be interested in Wollongong’s stories.”
Ms Scrivenor said they are keen to hear from bands that will “photograph well”, while it would be a bonus if they somehow tied into this year’s theme of “what feeds you”.
