A Lake Illawarra police officer was lucky to avoid serious injury after the car he was in was allegedly rammed into several times by another vehicle on Saturday night.

Two teenagers faced court on Sunday after allegedly injuring a police officer and damaging a police vehicle in Warrawong.
It’s alleged the duo driving a stolen Subaru Outback smashed into the police vehicle several times before crashing into a large steel bin and a parked Mitsubishi Triton near an apartment complex on Northcliffe Drive.
Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District were at the scene at about 11pm when the Subaru tried to exit the complex driveway and allegedly drove towards a male senior constable and a male constable before hitting a police vehicle, with a male senior constable inside.
One of the male senior constables suffered hand and neck injuries. He did not require medical treatment.
Officers arrested the driver, a 16-year-old boy, and passenger, a 14-year-old boy, and they were taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.
The 16-year-old boy was charged with never licensed person drive vehicle on road, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, negligent driving, intimidate police officer in execution of duty, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention.
The 14-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
Both were refused bail and appeared before a children’s court in Parramatta.
