Wanting a change, this exhibition signifies a return for Janine to a new but also former self, having gone a “full circle” in her journey of artistic pursuits.
Titled ‘Objects of Art’, this will be a quirky collection directly influenced from what Janine is surrounded by in her home environment.
“It is my Australian version derived from the traditional definition of “objet d’art” which usually means a small object of artistic worth,” she said.
“I own lots of interesting bits and pieces, some are valuable, many just sentimental, others appeal for their shape, design and colour. I’m surrounded by stuff – little collections of things – so it was a natural choice in my journey of artistic endeavours to look at what was in front of me.”
Janine said it had been “great fun and a huge challenge” to sort out her arrangements for the paintings.
“Some images are stand alone, others in groups, sometimes but not always linked together by colour or subject,” she said.
“I like to make things dramatic by pushing colour, emphasising tones and shadows, using luscious thick paint to give texture, scratching in and using varying degrees of distortion.
“Not all artwork will be paintings though. There are a few prints and also a few surprises in 3D.”
