The Mercury reported on Tuesday that there would be no southbound access to the bypass from Dapto – however there would be a northbound exit.
Dapto residents heading south would continue to use the Princes Highway.
A large number of readers vented their anger on the Mercury’s Facebook page.
“Fastest growing suburb and cut off from the bypass that makes sense – not,” wrote Brett Lucas.
“Typical government planning for yesterday not the future.”
Allan Miller claimed the decision was an example of “stupidity”.
“Can we please have some politicians/decision makers with a vision,” he asked.
Heather Boardman said it would be better to build the southbound access now rather than later.

“Surely [it’s] cheaper to build the southbound access along with other construction now than as a separate project later,” she wrote.
Several readers also pointed out the lack of southbound on ramps from Fowlers and Kanahooka roads.
However, there were a few voices that suggested using the Princes Highway won’t be as bad as Dapto residents were thinking.
“Ninety-five per cent of everyone else will be using the bypass,” Bianca Van Essen wrote.
“If it's only locals and Dapto residents it won't be that bad anyway.”
Daniel Redman pointed out the stretch of the Princes Highway heading through Albion Park Rail was actually shorter than the bypass and might actually be faster.
“This is a win for Dapto people. Quickest road with no traffic,” he wrote.
