The 2019 Good Universities Guide has revealed UOW’s engineering students boast NSW’s best full-time employment rate and median salary after graduation.
The annual publication also stated the university’s medicine graduates achieved a nation-leading 100 per cent full-time employment rate and NSW’s best median salary.
UOW’s standing among Australia’s leading teaching and learning institutions was reaffirmed by receiving five stars and ranking ahead of all other NSW universities in several categories of the guide produced by Good Education Group.
UOW was ranked first in NSW and given five-star ratings for the categories of: student retention, skills development, learning resources and learner engagement.
UOW’s ranking as equal first in NSW for student retention—a position shared by NUW Alliance partner UNSW—means UOW has done better than all other NSW universities at retaining students at a higher rate than the national average.
UOW also received the highest possible rating of five stars for other critical categories of staff qualifications, student support and its overall student experience.
It also achieved outstanding ratings in the specific subject areas of Creative Arts, Health Services and Support, Agriculture and Environmental Studies, Business and Management, and outstanding graduate outcome results in Engineering and Medicine.
UOW Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Wellings said this year’s impressive results were yet another confirmation of UOW’s commitment to its students.
“I want to acknowledge all UOW’s hard-working staff for their unswerving commitment to excellence in teaching and learning,” he said.
“Any student considering their future higher education study options can rest assured of enjoying a high quality, supportive and engaged learning environment at UOW that will prepare them well for their future careers.”
These results come just two months after UOW received international recognition for its institution-wide commitment to the pursuit of teaching and learning excellence at the 2018 Global Teaching Excellence Awards.
