The son of Oaks Road is set to be tested from box five in the sixth final of the night at Wentworth Park on Friday.
Sunburnt Highway has never placed in three starts in the yellow rug and the semi will be made more difficult as it will also feature a top contender in the form of the Robert Britton-trained Benali (box eight).
Benali qualified for the semi finals last month after running a sizzling 29.29 seconds on September 22.
The Victorian based sprinter is rated a $26 chance with the TAB to win the series while Sunburnt Highway is a $201 outsider.
“It’s obviously a massive task ahead from that box and to be up against a dog that I think was the fastest qualifier,” Richardson said.
“Of course he doesn’t know that and doesn’t know how big the race is.
“He is a brilliant dog. He is just so easy to get on with, but he will need a bit of luck.
“We only have the three dogs so to get to the semi finals is great.
“Win, lose or draw we are still lucky to have him. We just hope he gets around safely.”
The sixth semi final will be run at 9.58pm on Friday.
